Last month we learned that Britney Spears began production in London, England on the music video for her new single Criminal. A few days later, a few attention-hungry politicians in the UK demanded that Britney apologize for deciding to film a criminal-themed music video in their city. Undaunted, Britney‘s people responded to the silly controversy but made it clear they have no intention of pulling or changing the video. This week, Britney posted a message on her official Twitter profile alerting us to the fact that the Criminal music video will be released next week … so FINALLY we’ll get to see what all the hubbub is about.

It would seem that he will portray the criminal that Britney tells her mama she’s in love with. It will be the first time we get to see Jason in one of Britney‘s projects … well, except for those few times that he was used in Brit Brit‘s current Femme Fatale Tour show. Actor Zachary Quinto is gay. And it’s no big deal … at all. In a new interview with New York magazine, Zac talks about his recent performance in the play Angels In America and he reveals how important it was for him as a gay may to give his best performance possible. Just like that … no big announcement, no hoopla for media attention, no magazine coverstory. Just in passing, while talking about his work, Quinto casually refers to himself as a “gay man”. And that, my friends, is how it should be done.

Zachary Quinto’s eight-month run in the recent New York stage revival of Angels in America was an eye-opening experience for him. Since the project, the actor, 34 – who had an acclaimed role as Louis Ironson, a man who abandons his AIDS-stricken boyfriend – publicly discusses his much-questioned sexual orientation for the first time. In a new interview in New York, Quinto calls his work in the off-Broadway play the “most challenging thing I’ve ever done as an actor, and the most rewarding.” “At the same time,” he adds, “as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.” Later in the interview, when the topic changes to legalizing gay marriage and the suicide of bullied gay teen Jamey Rodemeyer, the actor once again refers to himself as a “gay man.” He says that when it comes to the different rights and treatment that come with being homosexual, “there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it.” “Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?” he says. “We’re terrified of facing ourselves.”

Love this. For years, Zachary has played gay roles but he has never publicly discussed his sexuality … not that he ever needed to. I’ve met the man a few times and he is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I am so impressed with the nonchalant way he went about coming out in the press. Zachary Quinto may have played an evil villain on his hit show Heroes but by coming out in this way, he is surely to be seen as a hero to many people out there who might be inspired by his honesty.

Pop music princess Kylie Minogue is taking a bit of a break from her music career to get back into her old occupation … as actress. Apparently, Kylie just wrapped one film project and has started a new on. This weekend Kylie surfaced on the Paris, France set of a new film titled Holly Motors. From the look of the photo below, it would appear that Kylie is playing a flight attendant … or something. Check out the photo below and read the known deets of this new film.

THE movie career of Kylie Minogue continues to roll on. Australia’s singing budgie, who recently wrapped up filming on the lesbian werewolf drama Jack and Diane, has popped up on the set of Holly Motors, a French movie from acclaimed director Leos Carax. Dressed in a blue uniform, Kylie Minogue was seen shooting scenes in Paris overnight – and looking very Jean Seberg-esque in short cropped blonde wig, with co-star Juliette Binoche looking on nearby. It’s understood the film has been shooting in the French capital for several weeks. It is unclear exactly how big a role Minogue, who began her career as an actress on TV teen soap The Henderson Kids, actually plays in the flick. According to Cineuropa, the film follows 24 hours in the life of a person who travels between different lives, including that of a “murderer, beggar, CEO, monstrous creature and father of a family”. The film is the latest in a series of roles for the 43-year-old Minogue, who appears to be re-igniting her acting career in the wake of her most recent – and some say final – world tour, the Aphrodite: Les Folies stage show. She recently took on the role of a heavily tattooed lesbian in US indie film Jack and Diane, which is due for release next year, alongside Ellen Page and Riley Keough. The pop singer admitted back in 1999 that she hoped to one day revive an acting career that has also included roles in TV cult show Doctor Who, Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and The Delinquents. “My day-time fantasy is that there is a director somewhere who will be thinking that kind of way but putting it into the context of the film. I would love to do more movies,” she said at the time. I really got waylaid and sidetracked. I started out as an actress and I thought that’s what I would do.”

I LOVE actress Kylie. She was fantastic in Moulin Rouge as the Green Fairy, Street Fighter as Cammi AND Bio Dome as the sexy scientist (not to mention her guest stint on Dr. Who a few years ago). I’m guessing that this role will likely be something more substantial and serious. I mean, that pixie wig she’s wearing looks pretty serious to me. BUT as much as I love actress Kylie … I vastly prefer pop star Kylie. Still … I’m curious about these new film projects she is working on.

As a superstar you can expect the rough with the smooth. And having been chased from a muddy field by an angry farmer for posing topless on his land, Rihanna was certainly due some luck. Today the risque R&B singer finds herself on the cover of style bible Vogue. In the front picture she presents an almost sophisticated look with a Monroesque pout and blonde hair. Inside, however, she’s back to her old tricks – posing more provocatively and revealing every inch of her legs against some rusty girders. She also sports a natty beret. Rihanna has courted controversy with a series of edgy videos – including being tied up and taped to the wall with clingfilm in the video to her hit ‘S&M’. But in a Vogue interview, the singer insists: ‘That’s not me. That’s a part I play. You know, like it’s a piece of art… I just want to make music.’ The singer, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, said that life with her parents, Monica Braithwaite and Ronald Fenty, triggered her rebellious attitude. ‘I saw too much. I was way too mature for my age,’ she revealed.

One of the things that I love most about Rihanna is her no-nonsense attitude. She does what she wants, she dresses how she likes and she never seems to let the criticism phase her. She reminds me of a young Madonna … a popstar who never feared to express herself with her various style incarnations. I seem to recall that Maddy used to be vilified by some for being too risqué and now the same seems to said about Rihanna. I may not love all of her looks and/or style choices but I do love her ability to keep things fresh and new. Rihanna looks great in this Vogue feature. What do y’all think … do we love?

An exciting new rumor is going around today that claims that Madonna will be the featured musical performer for the halftime show at the upcoming Super Bowl XLVI next year. This report comes from a football fansite and the news has not yet been confirmed … but, considering Madonna is readying the release of a new album early next year (right around the time of the Super Bowl game), it sounds like an entirely plausible possibility. Read below for all the REPORTED deets.

Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, sources close to the event told SBNation.com on Monday. A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment. As you’d expect for an artist with her mass appeal, this isn’t the first time Madonna’s been approached about performing at the Super Bowl. In 1998, it was heavily rumored that Madonna would perform at Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami, only to have the plans fall apart before a deal could be reached. Likewise, Madonna was reportedly to headline the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXV, two years later, but backed out at the last minute.

I’m not sure if it’s just because I WANT to believe this report but I think this is a rumor that might actually pan out. Prince performed at the Super Bowl a few years ago and he KILLED it! I can see how Madonna might want her own time to shine on such a huge performance stage. With a new album on the way, set for release around Super Bowl time? OMG … it’s a NO BRAINER! Let’s hope this report turns out to be true … cuz then I would really, REALLY be excited for next year’s Super Bowl game ;) What do y’all think? Back in August we were promised that we would get to hear new music from the band Garbage this month (!!!) but while we wait for that to get released (any second now, I hope) we must also wait for new information about the band’s next album. According to THIS report, Garbage is planning to release their as-yet untitled new album in the Spring of 2012. Holy Hell, this is VERY exciting news. While I would much prefer that we get to hear the new Garbage album before the end of this year, good things come to those who wait. I’m still very much counting on hearing new Garbage music this month … so hopefully that will tide me over until next year. Without a doubt, Garbage is one of my all-time favorite bands so any new ANYTHING from them is welcome. I love these quotes … now, if we could just hear a bit of new music, that would RULE all :D

Fans of Quentin Tarantino and men in uniform rejoice!

While Brad Pitt was promoting his newest movie, Moneyball, on NPR, Brad let reviled that Tarantino has plans to make a sequel to his historically inaccurate WWII film, Inglourious Basterds!

When the conversation turned to talk of the mysterious scar on Brad's Inglourious character's neck, Pitt spilled that it may all be explained in another movie.

He said,

"[Tarantino] said it would never be explained in [Inglourious Basterds] and if he ever does what he called a prequel-slash-sequel, then we'll reveal it then. He talks about [a sequel], but he's got several things percolating at once."

We should have seen this coming!

Hollywood is currently all about the sequels, and Inglourious Basterds is perfect candidate. The movie made over $320 million worldwide and won super villain Christoph Waltz an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor -- it's the director's biggest critical and commercial success to date.

But, Tarantino is a little busy at the moment.

The director is currently working on Django Unchained, the Jamie Foxx and the 3rd installment to his Kill Bill is set to release in 2014.

So if there's gonna be an Inglourious Basterds we're gonna have to wait for it.

Mother Monster is so giving!!

Lady GaGa recently relieved that her 3rd album is already in the works, saying:

"I'm actually already working on my next album. So I've been working on that. I've been planning the next tour, which keeps me very excited and busy because I have lots of new ideas, and I know exactly how I want it to look."

BUT the even better news is she wants her follow up to Born This Way to be sold given away for free!

GaGa's manager, Troy Carter said:

"What we're looking to do is not just about selling the CD or the digital file. It's how many people can we get the music to. How many people can experience it? If it was up to me, I'd give away the next album and put it on every handset that I can put it on, to get that scale."

We LOVE that idea!!

Prince Michael Joseph Jackson, the first born child of the late Michael Jackson, made his first solo in-person appearance in Berlin, Germany today to represent his family at the Tribute to Bambi 2011 event. As you can see in the photo below, Prince was all decked out in a black and red outfit which looked exactly like one of his father’s famous outfits. Check him out below.

His father was noted for the sharp suit and armband combo he started wearing during his smooth criminal years. And it seems the look was still inspiring his son as he made a solo public appearance in Berlin, Germany today. The 14-year-old donned a black suit and red armband as he appeared at the Tribute to Bambi 2011 event. The fact he wore a black tie and red shirt was also noteworthy, as it was one of the legendary singer’s favourite fashion pairings.
Prince appeared happy and relaxed as he posed at the show, which was raising money for the disadvantaged children’s charity. His Thriller star father was used to being in the public eye as a teenager in the Jackson Five. And his eldest son seems to be taking his fame in his stride too, as he reveled in the atmosphere. His appearance at the event coincided with the announcement of his first ever high-profile public engagement. He will star be starring at an auction on November 10 in aid of the Tribute to Bambi foundation, where his father’s handwritten composition of Bad will be up for sale. A spokesman for the event said: ‘Prince Michael Jackson will walk the red carpet and present the manuscript on stage surrounded by children. A source close to the event told People: ‘He won’t be traveling alone, but no family members will be with him.’ In the past he has always made public appearances under the watchful eyes of his relatives, often with his sister Paris, 13, and his brother 10-year-old brother Blanket.

Crazy. Prince was just a baby just a short time ago … then a wee little toddler … now he’s practically a man. It looks like the Jackson family is really interested in having MJ‘s children in the spotlight. My guess is that things will start out like this, a charity event here and there then … more. I just hope these kids are happy. It’s horrible that they lost their father at such a young age. I just hope they are ready for everything that comes with life in the public eye.
